Privacy Policy

1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Hey there, and welcome to GERTV! We believe in being open and honest about how we handle your personal information. This policy is our way of explaining, in plain English, what data we collect when you visit our site, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.

Your trust is super important to us, so thanks for taking a moment to read this. Just so you know, by using GERTV, you’re agreeing to the way we handle data as described here.

2. The Info We Collect (and Why!)

To make GERTV a better and more useful place for you, we gather a couple of types of information.

  • Stuff You Give Us Directly:

    • Comments: If you leave a comment, you’ll be asked for your name and email. We also see your IP address and browser info, which helps us fight off spam bots – nobody likes those!
    • Contacting Us: When you use our contact form, we’ll get your name and email so we can write back to you.
    • Our Newsletter: If you sign up for our newsletter (thanks!), we’ll use your email address to send you our latest cool stuff.
  • Stuff Our Website Gathers Automatically:

    • Analytics & Log Files: Like pretty much every other site on the internet, we use tools like Google Analytics. When you browse GERTV, these tools automatically log some basic tech info – like your IP address, what kind of browser you’re using, when you visited, and which pages you looked at. We don’t use this to identify you personally; we use it to see what articles are popular and how we can make our site better for everyone.

3. What We Do With Your Info

So, what do we do with the data we collect? Here’s the rundown:

  • Running the Site: First and foremost, to keep GERTV up and running smoothly.
  • Chatting With You: To reply to your comments and emails.
  • Sending You Updates: To deliver our newsletter to your inbox if you’ve asked for it.
  • Improving GERTV: By looking at what our readers enjoy, we can create more of the content you love.
  • Keeping Things Safe: To protect our site from spam and other security headaches.
  • Ads & Recommendations: To show you ads or affiliate links that might be relevant to your interests (if we use them).

4. A Quick Word on Cookies

A cookie is just a tiny text file that our website stores on your computer to make your visit smoother.

  • Why we use them: They help us remember your preferences. For example, if you leave a comment, a cookie can save your name and email so you don’t have to type it in every single time. Handy, right?
  • Third-Party Cookies: Some services we use, like Google Analytics or advertising partners, also place cookies to do their jobs. We don’t have control over these, but they help us understand our traffic and show relevant ads.
  • You’re in Control: Your web browser has settings that let you disable or manage cookies. Just be aware that turning them off might affect how our site (and many others) functions for you.

5. Your Rights Over Your Data

Your information is yours, and you have rights over it. We take these rights seriously. Depending on where you live, these generally include:

  • The Right to Access: You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • The Right to Rectification: If you think any of our info about you is wrong, you can ask us to correct it.
  • The right to Erasure: You can ask us to delete your personal data (under certain conditions).
  • And more… You also have rights to restrict or object to how we use your data, and to have it transferred.

If you want to exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at contact@gertv.net. We’ll be happy to help.

6. Links to Other Sites & Embedded Stuff

Our articles will often link to other websites we think you’ll find useful. Just know that if you click a link and leave GERTV, we don’t have any control over that other site. We always suggest you check out their own privacy policy.

Sometimes, we’ll also embed content like YouTube videos. When you interact with that, it’s pretty much the same as if you visited YouTube directly, and they might use their own cookies or track your activity.

7. Info About Kids

GERTV is intended for a general audience, but it’s not aimed at children under the age of 13 [or 16, choose one]. We don’t knowingly collect any personal information from kids. If you’re a parent and believe your child has given us information, please contact us right away, and we’ll do our best to remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

The digital world is always changing, so we might need to update this policy from time to time. If we do, we’ll post the new version right here on this page and update the “Last Updated” date at the top. It’s a good idea to check back periodically to stay informed.

9. Get in Touch!

If you have any questions at all about our Privacy Policy or anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at contact@gertv.net.
